L’univers dépeint par Alexandra Catiere est baigné de mystère. L’ordinaire se mêle à l’étrangeté et le particulier au commun. Le temps est suspendu. Les êtres et les lieux semblent appartenir au passé et pourtant ils sont ancrés dans le présent. Les images de Catiere nous piègent, nous séduisent, nous questionnent. La chronologie importe peu. Hors temps, hors lieu,  les scènes saisies ici et là agissent en nous tels des souvenirs aux contours indéfinis. La photographie de Catiere se veut intime, subjective. Il est question du passage du temps mais en dehors de toute narration. C’est la lumière qui apporte une tonalité et du contraste à l’ordinaire. Les images de Catiere agissent à la manière d’un souvenir fugitif. La scène appartient au passé et pourtant reste présente telle une apparition qui hante notre mémoire. Diverses émotions émanent de ses photographies : nostalgie, tristesse, émerveillement, curiosité. Depuis plusieurs années, Catiere compose une œuvre subtile. Chacune de ses images a une place à prendre dans le grand puzzle que forme son œuvre. Pour l’instant l’énigme reste insoluble. Catiere poursuit aujourd’hui son travail d’écriture de la lumière. Ses évocations futures parviendront peut-être à dissiper un peu de mystère.

Alexandra Catiere`s depictions are shrouded in mystery. Here the everyday is intermingled with the strange, the unusual with the ordinary. Time stands still. The beings and places that she depicts seem to come from a distant past but nonetheless to be anchored in the present. Catiere`s photographs enthrall us, they seduce us and call us into question. In this context chronology no longer plays an important role. The scenes that she captures here and there have fallen out of time and space and moves us like vague memories. Catiere`s photography is of an intimate and independent nature. It deals with the passing of time, outside of any narrative realization. The light creates a distinctive atmosphere of its own and thus contrasts with the ordinary. Catiere`s images take the form of the fleeting memory of a scene that seems to come from the past but presents itself like an apparition haunting our memory. Her photographs radiate melancholy, spiritual pain, ecstasy, curiosity. For several years Catiere has been creating a subtle oeuvre in which every photograph has its place, like a puzzle piece within a greater whole. the riddle still seems insoluble. Catiere is working on light`s own distinctive handwriting. It remains to be expected that her future evocations will unveil the unfathomable to some small degree.
